Mansfield Care – blogging service with staff support
Recently Texthouse has been helping care home staff at Mansfield Care Homes to share their news on a company blog. The company runs 11 residential care homes around Scotland, with several in the Scottish Borders and Edinburgh as well as the west coast. Each home is a small community with its own distinct character, with a shared ethos of exceptional personal care in a friendly environment.
The Mansfield Care blog has an important role in giving a picture of life at the care homes, and provides valuable insights for people who might be moving towards residential care. It also celebrates the different care home communities, and gives residents, staff and families something to discuss and share. It helps to recognise staff for their contribution and connect staff across the homes, and shows best practice in communication with people interested in its services.
However, the staff are very busy, and blogging is hard to fit into a demanding work environment. With 11 homes and a personalised ethos of care, it’s also important to communicate this, and not just offer a typical company blog with general news.
So Texthouse worked with the Mansfield Care team and web designers Cohorts by Design to establish a system for staff across the 11 homes to contribute news and pictures. The managers and wellbeing coordinators provide photos and stories on a monthly basis. Jules and Michael at Texthouse give them a quick follow-up call and write up the blogs, gathering them together into themes. These can be seasonal (Christmas, Halloween) or themed around regular activities such as music and visitors.
This personalised two-way approach helps to bring the homes to life, and highlights the essential human aspect of their work.
Texthouse is proud to be helping Mansfield Care to communicate its care and relationships by using verbatim and staff-sourced images to give the care home communities a voice.
