Fjordhus welcomes Texthus

Galashiels-based Fjordhus make beautiful Scandinavian-style bespoke houses with precision-engineered elements brought over from Norway. I’ve seen several of them in the local area and finally had a chance to see one from the inside. Lots of light, generous spaces, clean lines and warm timber – very lovely. And well equipped with eco-tech  to withstand the tough Scandinavian winters!

The new Fjordhus site involved a great bit teamwork from several Borders companies. Project management was by Alix Lunn of alunncreative, who also created the Fjordhus branding. The site was designed by John Ayscough at Colourful Bernard, while Texthouse provided the words.

The biggest verbal challenge? Fjordhus wanted to promote a type of building that is part-garage, part-outhouse, part-studio flat, and can also double up as a playroom, artists’ studio, spare room, or home office. It’s a familiar concept in Norwegian, but hasn’t yet entered the culture in English. See how we solved it in the portfolio.
